Jared Joseph Elizares is a creative professional raised on the Big Island of Hawaii who currently works and resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.

A recent Master of Architecture graduate from the California College of the Arts, Jared is interested in the intersections between the built environment and the natural world. The overlap of these spaces, and its inhabitants, presents an opportunity for us to consider the relationship that we have to nature (both real and idealized). He is also particularly enthusiastic about the potential for human environments to better support synanthropic wildlife, which requires new attitudes about enclosure and exclusion. Jared also promotes sustainability in design and aims to create as much value in a project with as little harm to the planet as possible. This requires deliberate material sensibility, ambitious passive energy targets, and long-term flexibility that allows a structure to adapt and change over its lifespan.

Jared is also a photographer with deep knowledge and experience in working with vintage film cameras, alternative processes, and digital experimentation. Past projects include large format polaroid portraits, hour-long evening exposures of urban scenes, and infrared landscape surveys of the northern California coastline. This approach to photography can be a slow and precise endeavor; The act of creating an image becomes much more than a mere point and a click, and the process is as rewarding as the resulting image.
